Free solo exhibition of prints by Christopher Alday exploring the art of letters at Indeed Brewing Company.
Christopher Alday has a solo show of prints on the walls at Indeed Brewing Company in Minneapolis, and it runs through Saturday, November 14. The exhibition is called A Güey With Words, and it's a celebration of letterforms and the objects they create.
If you've never thought much about the shapes of the letters you read every day, that's exactly where this show starts. Alday takes the basic building blocks of writing—the lines, curves, and angles that make up our alphabet—and treats them as visual elements in their own right. Instead of just reading them for what they say, you're invited to look at them for how they're built. The prints explore the art of letters, turning the act of writing into something you look at rather than just read.
It's a solo show, so everything you see comes from one perspective. The work is all prints, and the focus stays on that intersection between the written word and the visual image. Because it's a celebration of letterforms, the show works whether you're into typography, printmaking, or just like to see how a simple thing like a letter can be pulled apart and put back together in a different way.
