A live concert tribute show built around the Motown classics of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and more, with glittering costumes, dazzling dance routines and live musicianship.
The Magic of Motown comes to The Bridgewater Hall on Wednesday 4 November, as part of its 20th Anniversary Tour. It's a live tribute show built around the Motown classics of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, The Jackson 5 and Smokey Robinson, with glittering costumes, dazzling dance routines and live musicianship. It's not a concert by the original artists, but a production that brings those names together under one roof.
There's a bit of history to the show itself. It's now in its 20th year and has been seen by over a million people, and this tour is the anniversary run. It's a big one: 83 dates across 79 venues between October 2026 and March 2027, so the Manchester stop is one of many. The show is billed as one of the biggest success stories in British theatre history and 'the biggest Motown party of the year'. It's a tribute, and the production makes it clear it isn't affiliated with any of the original artists, estates or management companies.
If you want a bit more on top, there's a Premium Experience available, which gives you access to The Lounge before the concert and during the interval. Otherwise, it's the show as described: the Motown classics of Gaye, Ross, Wonder and the rest, with the costumes and dance routines that go with them.
