A Halloween sweet trail where families can collect party bags with Swizzels sweets inside, featuring The Swizzeler monster on New Cathedral Street.
Swizzels' Spooky Sweet Stop is on New Cathedral Street on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, part of the Halloween in the City weekend. It's a simple one: you head to the stop and pick up a Halloween party bag full of Swizzels sweets. The whole thing is free, so it's an easy one to swing by if you're in the city centre that weekend.
The stop is one of the many parts of Halloween in the City, the weekend that centres on the MCR Monstersโthose giant inflatable creatures that pop up across the city. They're created by artists Filthy Luker and Pedro Estrellas and brought to life by Designs in Air. This year they're celebrating their tenth anniversary with their longest trail yet: eight days of inflatables appearing at landmarks across Manchester, including a return to Manchester Arndale for the first time since 2018. The whole thing is organised by Manchester City Centre BID and sponsored by Swizzels.
Beyond the trail, the weekend adds a few more things to the mix. There's a Monster Bake-Off with chef Paul Horror-wood, and Walk the Plank's roaming Monsters Party Procession, which brings out puppets, stilt walkers and a six-piece brass band. Z-Arts is running a live storytelling show called The Monster Library, and there's a monster disco in Exchange Square. Over in St Ann's Square, DJ Ghostman is on the decks for The Rave-Yard, and there's an eight-metre-long Sweet Treat Eating Leech to see. The Swizzels stop on New Cathedral Street is just one of the spots you can hit as part of it all.
