Steve Hackett performs a tour pairing Genesis classics with his solo catalogue, featuring his long-time band members.
Steve Hackett plays The Bridgewater Hall on Tuesday 20 October, part of a 17-date UK tour that closes at London's Royal Albert Hall on 26 October. The set, Best of Genesis and Solo Gems, does exactly what the title says: it pairs the Genesis classics he's known for with songs from his own solo catalogue.
Most people know Hackett from the classic Genesis line-up, where he played from Nursery Cryme (1971) through to Wind and Wuthering (1977). He left the band in 1977 to go solo, and his own records run from Voyage of the Acolyte (1975) to Spectral Mornings (1978) and Defector (1980). More recently, The Circus and the Nightwhale (2024) hit the top of the Rock & Metal charts. Along the way, he also formed the supergroup GTR with Yes guitarist Steve Howe.
This tour also introduces two new band members. Swedish keyboardist Lalle Larsson takes over from long-time associate Roger King, and German drummer Felix Lehrmann replaces Craig Blundell. Hackett calls Larsson a total virtuoso and describes the rhythm section as like a thousand iron girders coming at you at 100mph. They're joined by Jonas Reingold on bass, guitar and backing vocals, Nad Sylvan on vocals, and Rob Townsend on saxophone, flutes, keyboards and backing vocals.
