A creative workshop to make a folded zine inspired by David Bowie's 'You're Not Alone', curated and facilitated by Tina Ramos Ekongo.
The Lab at Aviva Studios hosts a zine-making workshop on Sunday 29 November, from 2pm to 4pm. It's a two-hour session where you'll make a folded zine inspired by David Bowie, specifically the sound and lyrics of You're Not Alone. The whole thing is curated and facilitated by the award-winning artist and producer Tina Ramos Ekongo, who'll be there to guide you through the process.
As for what you'll actually be doing: you'll build your zine from magazine cuttings, lyrics excerpts, typography, coloured paper, stamps and drawing materials. The starting point is You're Not Alone, so you'll be working with Bowie's words and sounds as your prompt, pulling from those cuttings and lyrics to put something together. It's a hands-on afternoon of cutting, pasting and arranging, and you'll leave with a finished folded zine of your own.
The workshop runs as part of Aviva Studios' festive programme, which brings local choirs, bands and workshops to the venue throughout the season. It's for over-18s only, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of bringing anyone along. The session is free, though you'll need to pre-book your spot. If you need an access ticket, you'll have to get that directly from Factory International.
