A hands-on jewellery-making workshop led by jeweller AREESHA where participants create their own unique wax mould for a ring.
AREESHA is leading a wax carving workshop at The Lab, Aviva Studios on Sunday 22 November, from 2pm to 4pm. It's a two-hour session where you'll carve your own wax mould for a ring, and you don't need any previous jewellery-making experience to take part.
AREESHA is a British-Pakistani jeweller from Dewsbury, now based in Manchester. Her work draws on the natural world, turning shapes, layers and textures into miniature, wearable pieces of art. That's the kind of thing you'll be working towards here: the session starts with a full demonstration, and then everyone gets to use different tools to carve their own unique wax mould. All the materials you'll need are provided on the day.
Once you've finished your mould, there's a next step if you want it: it can be cast in any metal of your choice and posted back to you for a fee. So you can leave with a wax model, or go on to have it turned into a proper piece of jewellery.
