The Hallé Orchestra perform iconic classical arrangements including Shostakovich, Barber and Prokofiev, conducted by Stephen Bell.
The Hallé bring their Classical Extravaganza to The Bridgewater Hall on Saturday 17 October, a night that pulls together some of the most familiar pieces in the classical repertoire. It's conducted by Stephen Bell, Associate Conductor of the Hallé Pops, and it's part of the orchestra's tour, sponsored by OCU Group.
The programme runs from Shostakovich's Festive Overture through to Haydn's Trumpet Concerto, with Dvořák's Slavonic Dances and Prokofiev's Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet in between. There's also Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending, a rhapsody for orchestra and violin, with the Hallé's own Roberto Ruisi taking the violin. The evening is rounded out with works by Mozart, Barber and others.
