Festive Live: Innsæi String Quartet

Innsæi String Quartet are playing at Aviva Studios on Saturday 19 December, with a second date on Sunday 10 January. Both run from 5.45 to 6.45pm in The Social, so they're early evening slots rather than late nights.

The quartet formed at the Royal Northern College of Music and they work across a fair few genres, having studied under Donald Grant of the Elias String Quartet, Susie Mezsaros of the Chilingirian Quartet and cellist Petr Prause of the Talich Quartet. They tailor their repertoire to weddings, events, classical recitals and collaborations, so they're as comfortable with a formal recital as they are with a more casual gig.

These performances are part of 'Festive Live', one of the two strands of the 'Festive Voices & Festive Live' series at Aviva Studios, which the venue presents as a home for reimagined classical music, boundary-pushing performances, world premieres and cutting-edge opera. The wider winter programme, run by Factory International, also takes in immersive art and craft workshops, plus a series of free music, dance and fashion showcases honouring David Bowie ahead of what would have been his 80th birthday.

Each performance runs about an hour and is suitable for all ages, with under-14s accompanied by an adult. Entry is free, but you'll need to pre-book through Factory International. The Social is inside Aviva Studios on Water Street, Manchester M3 4JQ.
