Factory Spotlight: Melodies on the Mic

Melodies on the Mic takes over The Social at Aviva Studios on Tuesday 3 November, with five names on the bill: Tyreezy, Joash, Gvani, Fate and Lavelle. It's an evening of melodic rap and R&B, and the line-up is drawn entirely from the North West.

Melodies on the Mic is a music platform built on the idea that music connects most powerfully through melody and shared experience. Its aim is to showcase the strength of the North West's music scene and help put its talent firmly on the map alongside what's happening down South. The night champions some of the best R&B and melodic rap talent emerging from the region: artists who fold R&B into their rap sound alongside those bringing a more traditional R&B style, combining vocals, charisma and stage presence. That's the thread that ties the five acts together, though the individual sets will sit on different sides of that line.

It's a long one, running for three and a half hours, so you'll get a fair look at each of them rather than a quick succession of short sets. The bill is Tyreezy, Joash, Gvani, Fate and Lavelle, all from the North West, and the night is free, though you'll need to pre-book your place. It's 18+ only, and it starts at 7pm at The Social, inside Aviva Studios on Water Street (M3 4JQ). All access tickets — including wheelchair user spaces, an accessible viewing platform and essential companion tickets — have to be booked directly through Factory International.
