An evening of live music, spoken word and performance by four artists from across the North, curated by Azora, exploring remixing and Black diasporic art.
Factory Remix: Call and Response comes to The Social, Aviva Studios on Thursday 22 October, a night of live music, spoken word and performance curated by Azora. It brings together four artists from across the North of England, and the whole thing centres on remixing, reinterpretation and the lasting influence of Black diasporic art across contemporary culture. The bill pulls from alternative R&B, experimental composition, poetry and nu rap, so it's a bit of a mixed bag rather than one single sound.
Opening the live sets is Rory A. Green, a Ghanaian-English guitarist, composer and producer who draws on his mixed-heritage background, combining the sensitivity of acoustic instruments with synthesis and layered rhythms. After him comes Sophia Harari, a poet and performance artist whose practice weaves together narratives of love, faith and life. The second half of the night continues with Lei Hope, a Manchester-based artist and producer who's picked up support from BBC 6, The Guardian, Clash, DIY Magazine and Spotify Editorial, and has played festivals across the UK including MIF. Closing things out is Ty Untold, a Bradford-born vocalist, MC and performer known for his live work with the nu metal outfit Rupcha Farms and across the regional rave scene.
