The Muppet Christmas Carol film is screened live as its musical score is performed on stage by an orchestra.
Disney's The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert comes to The Bridgewater Hall on Thursday 17 December, with the film screened in full while its musical score is performed live on stage by an orchestra. It's a Muppet retelling of Charles Dickens' holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, Gonzo as Dickens narrating alongside Rizzo the Rat, Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim.
The original score was composed by Miles Goodman, who also worked on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Little Shop of Horrors, and it features songs by Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winner Paul Williams, including 'Rainbow Connection' and 'Evergreen'. The Manchester date is part of a 15-date UK tour, so it's one of many stops rather than a one-off. The performance runs about 86 minutes plus an interval, with evening shows starting at 7pm and matinees at 3pm.
