A groundbreaking disabled-led comedy night curated and hosted by Wheels and the Legman, featuring comedians Jack Carroll, Sam Ayinde, Ushiku Crisafulli, Mike Carter and Marlla Duffy.
Crippled With Laughter comes to The Social, Aviva Studios on Tuesday 10 November, a disabled-led comedy night curated and hosted by Wheels and the Legman. It's part of Aviva Studios' wider programme of events, and it puts disability right at the front of the show rather than as a side note. The night is built around breaking down barriers and debunking misconceptions, and it does that by putting disabled comedians centre stage.
Headlining is Jack Carroll, the award-winning comedian, writer and actor who first made his name as runner-up on Britain's Got Talent. Since then he's appeared on Live at the Apollo and Coronation Street, and wrote and starred in the BAFTA-winning BBC comedy Mobility. He's joined by Sam Ayinde, Ushiku Crisafulli, Mike Carter and Marlla Duffy, each bringing their own experiences and perspectives to the bill.
It's a full line-up, with five acts in total, and the night runs for about two hours. The age guidance is 14+, and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. The Social is inside Aviva Studios on Water Street in Manchester, so it's easy to get to if you're already in the city centre.
