Indie rock, pop rock and alternative rock night featuring Black Pontiac with support from Electric Enemy and Sunfish.
Black Pontiac play The Peer Hat on Thursday 15 October, with support from Electric Enemy and Sunfish. It's a Vancouver quartet that came out of an underground DIY community reshaped in the wake of the pandemic, and they've built a cult following with more than 10 million Spotify streams.
They're touring their second full-length, A Danger to Himself and Others, which came out in June 2026. The sound draws on Cage the Elephant and The Clash — indie rock with a pop sensibility and a bit of a punk edge. It's the kind of thing that works as well in a small room as it does on a record, and with the new album still fresh, the set will be built around it.
Opening the night are Electric Enemy and Sunfish. Sunfish are an alternative rock band from Salt Lake City, Utah, whose sound Velour Music Gallery owner Corey Fox calls 'glitch grunge' — a bit of a label that points to the heavier, more textured side of alternative rock. They put out a new EP in spring 2026, led by the single 'JACKPOT', so they'll have their own recent material to draw from before Black Pontiac take over.
