Baby & Carer screening of Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi, for parents and carers with babies.
HOME is hosting a Baby & Carer screening of Klara and the Sun on Wednesday 24 November, a session specifically for parents and carers with babies. It's one of those cinema trips that's actually built around having a little one with you, rather than trying to fit them in around the film.
The film is based on the bestselling novel by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro, and it was written and directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi. It introduces Klara, an Artificial Friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home. When she meets Josie, the two immediately sense a kindred spirit: Josie has a fraught relationship with her mother and the two have suffered great loss, but Klara's innocent wonder and unwavering loyalty begin to heal the family and bring light to Josie's complicated world. It's a story about friendship and family, told through the eyes of someone who's not quite human.

If you've read the book, you'll know it's a quiet, thoughtful piece of writing, and Waititi is the one bringing it to the screen. The Baby & Carer format means you can bring your baby along without worrying about the usual cinema etiquette — it's a space where you can watch the film and still be there for your little one. The screening is at HOME in Manchester, and it runs on Wednesday 24 November.
