Horror rock night headlined by Wednesday 13 and The Birthday Massacre, with Killus, at Electric Brixton.
Wednesday 13 and The Birthday Massacre co-headline Electric Brixton on Saturday 12 December, with Killus opening the night. It's a double bill that brings together two acts from very different corners of the dark alternative scene on one stage.
Wednesday 13, born Joseph Poole in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1976, has built his name as one of horror rock's most distinctive voices. He's earned the nickname 'The Duke of Spook' by blending horror themes with punk rock and metal, and he's been at it since the early 1990s, when he started out with the horror-punk project Maniac Spider Trash.
The Birthday Massacre are a six-piece from Toronto who've spent 25 years crafting a dark alternative sound that's synth-driven and guitar-heavy, melodic and dissonant. They draw on 1980s synthwave, new wave, industrial and dark wave, and they describe their work as shaped by horror and fantasy cinema as well as fine art. Live, frontwoman Chibi is a magnetic presence, and the interplay of dual guitars, keys and driving bass makes for an immersive, atmospheric and visceral set.
