Indian-inspired Diwali tasting menu by a dozen South Asian London chefs, with all profits going to The Nour Foundation.
Under The Same Moon is a Diwali dinner taking place at The Exchange on Thursday 22 October, with more than a dozen of London's best South Asian chefs coming together to cook for Gaza. It's an Indian-inspired tasting menu that starts with table snacks, moves to a main course of Ouzi Vegetable Rice, and finishes with a Malai Maska dessert. All profits go to The Nour Foundation.
The line-up is a proper cross-section of the city's South Asian food scene. Twelve chefs are on the bill: Vegetarian Brown Girls, MAJI, Londis N16, Sugar Spice And Everything Nice, Third Culture Kat, The Table South, Absolute Coconut, Seeds of Wild, Didi Supper, Homies Kitchen, Nour Elnono, Tera Mera and Maska. It's a rare chance to see that many names in one room, all working on the same menu.
The organisers frame the night as a gesture of solidarity. As they honour Diwali, they also hold Gaza in their hearts, with the reminder that across distance, culture and struggle, under the same moon people are not strangers. They describe the evening as a night of food, community and reflection. Diwali itself is the biggest night of the Indian year, marked by lamps, sweets, new clothes and fireworks.
