Free all-night house music session at the Boisdale of Canary Wharf, with selections from Balearic to soulful.
Thursdays House Night is back at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on Thursday 22 October, with house music running all night. It's a straightforward one: a night dedicated to house, with the music going from the start and staying on throughout.
The selections cover a fair bit of ground, ranging from Balearic to soulful. If you're not entirely sure what that means in practice, Balearic usually brings to mind the sun-drenched, open-air sound of the early Ibiza terraces — melodic, breezy, and not too hurried. Soulful house leans more into the vocal, gospel-tinged side of things, with a focus on the groove and the song rather than just the beat. Between the two, there's plenty of room for the deeper, more atmospheric stuff that sits comfortably in the middle.
Because it's a house night and not a single DJ set, the music is the main feature rather than any one name on the bill. The Balearic and soulful labels give you a good sense of where the night is headed, and since it's house all night, you know what you're getting when you walk through the door.
