Oscar-winning satirical musical comedy by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, following two Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda.
The Book of Mormon is playing at the Prince of Wales Theatre on Friday 6 November, part of its long run in the West End. It's a satirical musical comedy from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the duo behind South Park, who wrote it with Robert Lopez, the EGOT winner who co-wrote Avenue Q and Frozen. The story follows two young Mormon missionaries, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, who are sent from Salt Lake City to Uganda to preach, only to find they have more to learn about the real world than they can teach. Casey Nicholaw handles the choreography and co-directs with Parker.
It's been a West End hit since 2013 and has picked up nine Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards along the way. The New York Times called it 'the best musical of this century', the Washington Post said it 'restores your faith in musicals', and Entertainment Weekly named it 'the funniest musical of all time'. Just a heads-up on the content: it uses strobe lighting, flashing lights, and gunshots, and there's a parental advisory for explicit language. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult, and children under 3 aren't admitted.
