Swervedriver play Village Underground in London with support from Long Distance Runner.
Swervedriver play Village Underground on Friday 24 October, with Long Distance Runner opening the night. It's a London date that comes just a day after the current date, so if you're thinking about it, it's one of those things to sort out now rather than later.
For anyone who knows them, Swervedriver are the shoegaze band that always leaned a bit more towards the rock side of the fence than some of their contemporaries. They built their name on a wall of distorted guitars and a certain kind of melodic, driving energy that worked as well on a loud stage as it did on record. They've spent the last few years back in the studio and on the road, and this is one of the London stops on that run.
They aren't playing alone, either. Long Distance Runner takes the opening slot, so you'll get two bands across the evening rather than just the one. It means the night starts earlier than a headline-only show would, with the support act warming up the room before Swervedriver take over.

On the practical side, it's at Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, EC2A 3PQ. Doors open at 18:00 and the whole thing wraps up by 21:00, which is a decent shout if you're heading in from across the city and want to be home at a reasonable hour. General admission is £28.50 face value, which comes to around £33.56 once you've added the fees. Between the early start and the 21:00 finish, it's a straightforward evening: in, two bands, and out before the night gets too late.
