Weekly Sunday evening of live vintage-style jazz, swing and big band standards by Bunny Nightingale at the speakeasy Mr Fogg's Society of Exploration in Covent Garden.
Bunny Nightingale is the main feature of Spiffing Sundays, which runs every Sunday from 8pm to 11:30pm at Mr Fogg's Society of Exploration in Covent Garden. It's a late-night slot that stretches well past the usual Sunday evening, so you've got plenty of room to settle in.
Nightingale is a vintage-style singer who performs at guests' tables rather than from a stage, bringing her set right into the room. She works through jazz, swing and big band standards, and describes herself as a timeless and enchanting singer who puts her own takes on the classics. Because she moves between the tables, it's more of a shared experience than a formal concert — you'll hear her singing close by rather than watching from a distance.
The venue itself is a Covent Garden speakeasy founded by Phileas J. Fogg, Esq., the fictional figure whose journey around the world began at Charing Cross station, just a stone's throw away. Inside, it houses the world's first Mechanical Mixologist, an automated Negroni-making machine inspired by the Industrial Revolution, and a multi-sensory cocktail menu that takes guests through nine extraordinary areas of the Earth. It's part of the wider Mr Fogg's collection of Victorian-inspired bars and taverns across London, which regularly pair live entertainment with adventurous drinks — another one is Murder on the Fogg's Express, a 90-minute tabletop murder mystery staged in a Victorian train carriage inspired by the glamour of the Orient Express.
