South London singer-songwriter Skye Newman, BBC Sound of 2026, plays the O2 Academy Brixton on her 'The Survival Tour'.
Skye Newman plays the O2 Academy Brixton on Thursday 12 November, one of nine dates on The Survival Tour, her biggest UK headline tour so far. The London show is part of a run that takes her across the country, and it's the one that brings her back to the south London area she calls home.
Newman is a south London singer-songwriter who has had a massive year. In January, she was crowned BBC Sound Of 2026, beating out nominees including The Last Dinner Party, HAIM and Adele. She also made the NME 100 of essential emerging artists for 2026, where she was described as 'a rising star of a new generation of UK soul'. Her live shows have built a reputation for their emotional intensity, warmth and the sense of community they create in the room, with audiences turning out night after night.
She's touring on the back of her debut EP, SE9 Part 1, with Part 2 due on 29 May. Among her biggest influences, she's cited Amy Winehouse, Adele and Bob Marley, and she's been championed by Elton John and Ed Sheeran. She's also been called 'Gen Z's working-class heroine', whose frank, bare-teethed truth-telling shines in an increasingly exclusive music industry.
