Toronto club night PLAYGRND brings its hip-hop, R&B, dancehall and afrobeats mix to Outernet Live, strictly over-18s.
PLAYGRND brings its series to Outernet Live on Friday 6 November, a night that carries the energy of a club night rather than a seated gig. It's presented by Furtado Global, and the whole thing is strictly over-18s, so you'll need a physical photo ID to get through the door.
PLAYGRND comes from Toronto, Canada, and bills itself as 'The Premier Hiphop and R&B Experience'. That's the core of what they're bringing over to London: a mix of hip-hop, dancehall, afrobeats and R&B. It's not just one sound, so the night pulls from a few different corners of the dancefloor rather than sticking to a single genre. The line-up is built around DJs and MCs, with DJ Cass and DJ Andy Purnell on the decks, and Jada Kai and R-Lo on the mic. Between them, they'll be working through that blend of hip-hop, dancehall, afrobeats and R&B, with the DJs handling the music and the MCs keeping the energy up.
