Perfume Genius plays Union Chapel on Wednesday 28 October, performing as a duo with support from Dan English. It's the stage name of Mike Hadreas, who's been releasing music since 2008, and this is a stripped-back version of his live show.
He started out with Learning in 2010 on Matador Records, followed by Put Your Back N 2 It in 2012 and Too Bright in 2014 — the latter co-produced by Portishead's Adrian Utley and home to the queer anthem 'Queen'. In 2017 came the GRAMMY-nominated No Shape, produced by Blake Mills, and in 2020 Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, an exploration of masculinity with contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, Jim Keltner and Pino Palladino. More recently, he worked with choreographer Kate Wallich on the dance piece The Sun Still Burns Here, from which Ugly Season grew, and in March 2025 he released his seventh studio album, Glory, which also earned a GRAMMY nomination.
