Weekly night of improvised music drawing on jazz, soul, broken beat and hip hop at Night Tales Loft, strictly 18+.
PATTERNS is back at Night Tales Loft on Wednesday 28 October, another edition of the weekly live jazz session that's become a regular in East London's nightlife. It's an improvised night, so there's no setlist to hold onto — the music is made up on the spot, and it changes every week.
The session brings together some of London's finest musicians for an evening of improvised music, drawing on jazz, soul, broken beat and hip hop to open up a space for collaboration between players of all styles. Because it's improvised, the line-up can shift and the sound can pull in different directions from one night to the next, with the different genres overlapping rather than sitting side by side. It's a night that values the room and the energy of the players over a fixed programme.
Night Tales Loft is the home for it, and the room is built for this kind of thing: it's a 450-capacity space that focuses on sound, energy and atmosphere. It's a good size to get a crowd around the music without losing the feeling of being close to the stage, and it's a venue that lets the sound take centre stage. The night is strictly 18+.

It runs from 18:00 to 23:00, so you've got a full evening to settle in. You'll find it at Night Tales Loft, 207, 1 Westgate St, London E8 3RL, in the heart of Hackney. If you're around East London on a Wednesday, it's a straightforward mid-week option for live jazz.
