London debut of Brazilian singer Nina Maia, playing her album 'I N T E I R A' at Morocco Bound in Bermondsey, for over-18s only.
Nina Maia plays Morocco Bound in Bermondsey on Friday 23 October, her London debut. She's a Brazilian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer, and this is the first time she's brought her work to a London stage. The night is presented by Morocco Bound, and she'll be performing in the venue's 60-capacity room.
On the bill, she'll be playing through her first album, I N T E I R A. It's a record that pulls from a few different places at once: MPB — the música popular brasileira that sits at the heart of her sound — alongside jazz and indie pop. She's known for a voice that carries a fair bit of weight, and that's what she'll be leaning on here, bringing the album to life with the same emotional depth and sonic sophistication that define the recordings.
It's a small room for a debut, so you'll be close to the stage. The set is built around I N T E I R A, and since it's her first London show, it's the best chance to hear the record as she intended it. If you're familiar with the album, it's a good occasion to hear it live; if you haven't come across her yet, it's a straightforward introduction to her work.
