Musical Bingo

Musical Bingo is back at Dabbers City on Saturday 21 November, with another session on Saturday 19 December. It's a night that swaps numbers for songs: instead of a caller shouting out 'two little ducks', a DJ spins a quick-fire medley, and you mark off the tunes you recognise on your card. There are prizes for one, two and three lines, plus a Full House grand prize for whoever clears their card first. The show runs over three rounds, each with its own theme, so you'll be working through different eras and genres as the night goes on.

It's more than just the bingo, though. Between the rounds, the night is built around stage challenges, dance-offs, cocktails, shots and the venue's multi-choice mystery boxes. The DJ sets cover a wide range of genres and decades, and everyone's expected to get involved rather than just sit back and listen. If you've never done it before, the basic idea is simple: listen to the medley, find the song on your card, and cross it off. The rest is just the usual bingo tension, only with a soundtrack you'll actually know.

Musical Bingo started in a sweaty East London basement back in 2007 and has since grown into one of the city's interactive club nights, run by Agency Unknown, who also put on Gospeloke and Chest Quest. Over the years it's worked with clients like Facebook, Topshop, Spotify and Vice, and played festivals across the country as well as shows in Amsterdam, New York and the Seychelles. There's also a family-friendly daytime version, Musical Bingo Kids, for ages five and over, if you've got younger ones to bring along.

On the night, the bar opens from 17:00, doors open at 19:30 and the show runs from 20:00 to 22:30. Tickets are between £19.80 and £25.30, and you'll find it at Dabbers City, 18-22 Houndsditch, London, EC3A 7DB.
