Free early evening showcase concert with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Future Firsts and Royal Academy of Music students.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra are playing a free early evening concert at the Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 27 February 2027. It's a showcase that brings together members of the LPO with students from two of the city's music programmes: Future Firsts and the Royal Academy of Music.
If you're not familiar, Future Firsts is the LPO's scheme for young musicians, and the Royal Academy of Music is one of the UK's leading conservatoires. Having students from both on the same stage means the evening is built around the next generation of players sharing the platform with the professionals they're training to join. It's a showcase in the truest sense — a chance to see these young musicians performing in a major London hall rather than tucked away in a rehearsal room or a student recital.
The LPO themselves are one of the city's main orchestras, based at the Southbank Centre, so this is their home turf. The Royal Festival Hall is right in the heart of the Southbank, easy to get to from Waterloo, and it's one of the most recognisable concert spaces in London. Because it's an early evening show, it's the kind of thing you can fit in before your night properly gets going, rather than something that takes up the whole evening.
