Intimate folk-jazz set by Issey Chivers at Morocco Bound bookshop in Bermondsey, celebrating her debut EP 'Whispers of the Sea'.
Issey Chivers plays Morocco Bound Bookshop on Friday 30 October, an intimate folk-jazz set in Bermondsey. The night is a celebration of her debut EP, Whispers of the Sea, so you can expect a good chunk of the set to come from there.
For those who haven't come across the venue, Morocco Bound is a bookshop on Morocco Street that turns into a music venue and events space by night. It's one of those South London spots that wears two hats: books by day, live music and other things by evening. The shop hosts programmes led by a range of creatives — musicians, authors, poets and artists — and has built a following as one of the best grassroots venues in the area, with a calendar that runs from live music and comedy to poetry readings and book launches. It's the kind of place that feels as much a part of the neighbourhood as the shops around it.

On the night, the focus is entirely on Chivers. The set is billed as folk-jazz, and the occasion is her debut EP, Whispers of the Sea, so it's a good chance to hear those songs live. The session starts at 19:00, and tickets are £12. You'll find the bookshop at 1a Morocco Street, Bermondsey, Southwark, London, SE1 3HB.
