Guided hiking weekend from London to the Lake District, with a circular to Helvellyn and the Fairfield Horseshoe.
The NikOut Collective are heading to the Lake District on Friday 6 November, with the group meeting at Euston Rail Station's ticket office on Euston Road, NW1 2RT, at 17:00 GMT. It's a guided weekend escape led by Nikol, the collective's founder, and it takes in two of the region's big peaks: Helvellyn and Fairfield.
The hiking starts in earnest on the second day with a challenging circular towards Helvellyn from Glenridding. That one's around 18-20km and takes seven to eight hours of steep ascents and rocky paths. The third day is the Fairfield Horseshoe, roughly 15-17km and six to seven hours of moderate to challenging ground. It's a proper couple of days on your feet, so you'll need to bring a packed lunch, at least two litres of water, waterproofs and proper hiking boots.
Nikol started The NikOut Collective after years of hiking in groups, and she describes the best part of the trail as the people: the laughs, the shared effort and the conversations that happen when phones are put away. The community is London-based and about six months old, and it's grown into a following that takes in regular hikes around the city and beyond, with weekend escapes to North Wales and Scotland. There are plans for small-group adventure trips and international hikes to places like Albania, and they share behind-the-scenes content and adventure inspiration on Instagram @the_nikout_collective.
