All-ages daytime indie pop and soul disco for parents and children at The Phoenix, near Oxford Circus.
HDIF Family Disco is back at The Phoenix on Sunday 29 November, from 12 pm to 4 pm. It's an all-ages daytime party playing indie pop and soul, and it's been a fixture at the End Of The Road festival since 2011. It started as an alternative to the rave-themed kids' discos that pop up around London, with the music kept at a reasonable, child-friendly level and ear defenders recommended for the smaller dancers.
The selection runs from The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian and The Ramones through to The Supremes, Otis Redding and The Temptations, and the floor is for parents and family friends as much as for the children. There's one rule to keep in mind: no adult is admitted unless accompanied by a child, much like Coram's Fields. If you're heading there with the little ones, it's a daytime slot, so you'll be home long before bedtime.

The Phoenix itself is a quirky basement bar and music venue spread across two floors, with a wooden dancefloor downstairs and a short flight of stairs to the entrance. It's about three minutes' walk from Oxford Circus tube station, which makes it easy to get to from across the city. Tickets are £7 for adults and £3 for children, and the whole thing runs from 12 pm to 4 pm on Sunday 29 November.
