Live show by hip hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash, presented by Tapestry Promotions at 229, for over-18s only.
Grandmaster Flash plays 229 on Sunday 25 October, as part of The Four Elements Tour. It's a Tapestry Promotions night, and the show is for over-18s only.
If you're not already familiar with the name, Flash is one of hip hop's original innovators. Born Joseph Saddler on 1 January 1957 in the South Bronx, he's regarded as one of the culture's archetypal figures. He was a pioneer of the turntables, the first to treat them as a musical instrument and to develop the techniques that became foundational to DJing worldwide. The tour title, The Four Elements, points back to the core pillars of hip hop — DJing, MCing, breaking, and graffiti — that he helped shape from the start.
