All-vinyl club night marking eleven years of Girlz B Like, with resident DJs and guest selectors Nikki Lucas and Miss Soxee.
Girlz B Like are celebrating eleven years of the project at Grow in Hackney Wick on Saturday 24 October. It's a birthday night for the collective, and the music follows the same format they've stuck to since the start: a seven-hour all-vinyl stint that runs from 7pm through to 2am.
The night is held by the Girlz B Like DJs residency, and for this one they're joined by guest selectors Nikki Lucas and Miss Soxee. Between them, they'll be working through a selection of vinyl-only disco, broken beat and deep house, with the whole thing played from records rather than a laptop.
To get a sense of what that means: Girlz B Like is an umbrella collective of female DJs who specialise in playing vinyl records around the world, rooted in women's music, vinyl, soul, culture and community. This night marks eleven years of that project, and the music they'll be playing—disco, broken beat and deep house—is the sound they've built it on. The seven-hour all-vinyl format is the same one they've used throughout.
