Free exhibition at Tate Modern exploring how art can inspire change in response to today's ecological crisis.
Gathering Ground is open at Tate Modern, and it's going to be there for a good while — it runs until 7 March 2027, so you've got plenty of time to fit it in if you can't make it this month.
The exhibition looks at the power of art to inspire change in the face of today's ecological crisis. It's a broad starting point, but that's the whole idea: how art can take a global, often overwhelming problem and turn it into something you can actually stand in front of and think about. Rather than just documenting the damage, it asks what art can do to push things forward.
Because it's at the Tate Modern, it's right in the heart of the South Bank, easy to get to on a weekend or a lunch break. And since it's free, there's no pressure to rush through — you can take your time with the rooms and come back to the ones that stuck with you. It's one of those things that works just as well as a quick wander as it does as a proper afternoon spent inside.
