Free drop-in late-night night of film, performance, installation, a DJ set and a workshop exploring the eerie and surreal in contemporary design.
V&A South Kensington hosts another Friday Late on 30 October, this one titled Phantom Constructs. It's the museum's long-running contemporary late-night series, which runs on the last Friday of every month except January, May and December. The night is free and drop-in, bringing together live performance, film, installation, debate and DJs around contemporary visual culture and design. This edition focuses on the eerie, the surreal and the sinister, with artists and designers blurring the lines between reality and simulation.
The programme is built around several screenings and performances. There's Keiichi Matsuda's short film Hyper-Reality and Simone C. Niquille's computer-generated film Sorting Song. geist.xyz is a choreography of algorithmically generated amorphous textiles by the conceptual design studio ZEITGUIISED, and there's a screening of Berberian Sound Studio from the V&A's National Video Archive of Performance. For something more hands-on, artist Nan Carreira leads an 'Exquisite Corpse' workshop.

Music runs through the night in the Grand Entrance, with a DJ set by Jacky-Oh Weinhaus from 18:30 to 21:30 and a performance at 20:30. The whole thing is free to enter, and you can drop in whenever you like rather than sticking to a set schedule. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and it's one-in, one-out if capacity is reached. There's filming and photography throughout the night, so keep that in mind if you're not keen on being on camera. It runs from 18:30 to 22:00 at the V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL.
