Free, casual football session for anyone over 18, with no pressure on performance, played on grass in any weather.
Terrible Football is back at Regents Park on Sunday 18 October, with kick-off at 10:30am. It's a free, inclusive, casual football session open to anyone over 18, regardless of gender or skill level, played on grass come rain, sun or snow. The name says it all: the whole thing is built around the idea that you don't have to be any good to take part.
It was set up for people who feel too intimidated to join a local Sunday League team or aren't keen on paying for five-a-side on astro turf. The organisers make a point of it: there's no pressure on performance. The players range from old semi-pro types to people who've never kicked a ball in their lives, and no one gets upset if a pass goes wide or the ball gets lost. It's about having a run-around on a Sunday morning rather than winning a trophy.
The session runs across several London parks, including Clapham Common, Weavers Fields and Tooting Bec Common, and the project has since spread beyond the city to Amsterdam, Berlin and Taipei. Spaces are limited, and the game goes ahead in any weather as long as there are enough players to make it work. The only dress code is to bring a black and white t-shirt.

It's free to play, though regulars are asked to donate once or twice a year to help with upkeep and new equipment. Kick-off is at 10:30am at Regents Park, London NW1 4NR, and players are asked to arrive by 10:15am to help with setup.
