Singing comedy duo Flo & Joan return to the stage with their musical comedy show 'With Feeling'.
Flo & Joan are back at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on Wednesday 21 October, their first London date in a while. The singing sisters Nicola and Rosie Dempsey are a musical comedy duo, and this show, With Feeling, is their return to the stage after a bit of a step back from the spotlight.
Before the break, they were known for One Man Musical, their spoof of Andrew Lloyd Webber that ran for a long time and gave its star, George Fouracres, a major pre-SNL career boost. With Feeling is a new show in which they try to take up as much of the stage as possible, and the premise is a bit of a wind-up: they take another 'real band's' setlist and use it to write their own songs. Along the way they ruminate on questions like 'What is music?', 'How do you be a band?' and 'What is comedy?' in the sharp-tongued, deadpan way that's become their trademark. The show promises plenty of funny songs.
If you've seen them before, you'll know the two of them are sisters, and that family familiarity sits right at the heart of the act. The deadpan delivery is the thing they're most known for, and that's what they're leaning into here, with the songs and the talking around them working together. It's a musical comedy show, so the songs are the main event, and the whole thing is built around them.
