Book talk by Victoria Bateman at Waterstones Euston about how women made the world wealthy.
Victoria Bateman is coming to Waterstones, Euston on Monday 19 October, for an evening centred on her book Economica: A Global History of Women, Wealth and Power. It's a talk about the untold story of how women made the world wealthy, and Bateman will be there to walk through it in person.
The book itself looks at the role women have played in the global economy over the centuries, focusing on the wealth and power they built and the ways that history has often left them out of the picture. It's a global history, so it reaches beyond a single country or era to trace how women's economic contributions shaped the world we live in. The evening is an opportunity to hear Bateman talk through those threads and the research behind them.
If you're interested in economic history, or just in the parts of it that usually don't make it into the textbooks, this is exactly the kind of thing that fits. It's a chance to hear the author talk about the women who built wealth and power on their own terms, and to get a better sense of the scale of what they achieved.
