Halloween party where guests dress as a departed music icon and sing in private karaoke rooms, with live DJs and an open mic.
BAM Karaoke Box Victoria is running Dead Famous, its Halloween party, on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October. It's a two-night affair staged with Volcán Tequila, and the whole thing is built around one simple hook: you turn up dressed as your favourite departed music icon — Bowie, Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Amy Winehouse, Prince, Whitney Houston, Tupac, Aaliyah or Cher — and sing in private rooms. The venue's Requiem Playlist pre-loads each room with the legends' greatest hits, so you don't have to spend half your night scrolling for the right track.
Outside the rooms, the BAM BAM Bar hosts live DJs and an open mic from 8:30pm, so there's a social side to it as well as the singing. The venue is dressed for the occasion: the BAM Booth doubles as a Hall of Fame of gold-framed RIP-style plaques, and the Legend Package gets you in with a make-up artist in the Séance Grotto who can turn you into an immortal icon. Volcán cocktails lean into the spirit theme, and a best Dead Famous Icon award is handed out nightly. The Parisian-style townhouse menu is by chef Sabrina Gidda.
