Expert-led talk and Q&A on psychedelics led by Professor David Luke, with a drink in hand at 21Soho.
Curious Hour brings its psychedelics science night to 21Soho on Saturday 19 December, with Professor David Luke leading the evening. It's part of a series that takes big ideas into a casual bar setting — no jargon, no lecture-hall atmosphere, and no podium. The whole thing runs for about an hour: a specialist takes the lead, followed by an open, unfiltered Q&A, and then plenty of time to grab a drink and chat with the other people in the room.
Curious Hour rotates through different angles on altered states, moving between clinical research, law and policy, and lived experience. This particular night is led by David Luke, who heads the Psychedelic and Exceptional Experience Lab at the University of Greenwich and is a Perrott-Warrick Senior Researcher via Trinity College, Cambridge. His recent work on DMT, near-death experiences and existential distress has appeared in PLOS ONE and Frontiers in Psychology, so he's coming to the table with actual data rather than anecdote. The evening is framed as a night where peer-reviewed research replaces hearsay, delivered with a drink in hand.

If you've never been, the format is pretty straightforward. You get a talk from someone who knows the subject inside out, a chance to ask your own questions, and a room full of people to talk to afterwards. It's less of a formal presentation and more of a conversation around a bar table. The session starts at 18:30 at 21Soho, 3-5 Sutton Row, London W1D 4NR, and tickets are £25.
