Curator Thomas Kennedy talks about the exhibition 'Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant: Inside Bloomsbury' at Tate Britain.
Thomas Kennedy is taking the stage at Tate Britain on Saturday 28 November for a curator's talk on Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant: Inside Bloomsbury, the exhibition he's put together. It's a chance to hear the person behind the show talk through it, rather than just walking the galleries on your own.
The talk sits inside a massive exhibition that brings together more than 300 works by Bell and Grant, two of the most celebrated British artists of the twentieth century and core members of the Bloomsbury Group. It's not just paintings, either: portraits, still lifes and landscapes hang alongside decorative work on furniture, ceramics and textiles. The real draw is a once-in-a-lifetime restaging of the artists' studio, moved from their Sussex home, Charleston, and set up here in London. Their creative partnership lasted more than 50 years, and their commitment to freedom and radical experimentation helped shape British art, literature and societal thought. The exhibition is organised by Tate Britain in collaboration with Charleston and runs from 12 November 2026 to 11 April 2027, so you'll have plenty of time to see the work before and after the talk.
