A guided tour with the Guildhall Art Gallery's curator to explore works by British artists transformed into tapestry, including the Dovecot Tapestry.
The Guildhall Art Gallery is bringing back the Bayeux Tapestry to the UK, and as part of the exhibition, they're running a curator-led tour on Wednesday 11 November. The tour is called Beyond Bayeux: Tapestry Now, and it's led by the gallery's own curator, so you'll be walking through the work with someone who knows it inside out.
The main thing on display is the Dovecot Tapestry, and the tour focuses on how works by British artists have been transformed into tapestry. It's a good way to see the craft up close rather than just glancing at it on your own, and you'll get to hear the curator talk through the pieces and the process behind them.
The wider exhibition runs from 23 October 2026 to 21 March 2027, so the tour falls well within its dates. It's built around the return of the Bayeux Tapestry to the UK, and it sets that alongside contemporary practice, looking at the past, present and future of tapestry. The Dovecot Tapestry sits right in the middle of that conversation, and the tour is your chance to see it as part of a broader tradition.

If you're interested in how a painting or a drawing becomes a woven piece, this is exactly the kind of thing the curator will be getting into. The tour is on 11 November at the Guildhall Art Gallery in London, and the full exhibition stays open until 21 March 2027.
