Caravan Palace brings its jazz-influenced electronic and swing show to Olympia, with special guest Creature, at the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Caravan Palace play the British Airways ARC at Olympia on Saturday 14 November, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. It's a full-band show, not a DJ set, and it's their only London date of the autumn tour.
If you've come across them through the internet, you've probably seen the numbers: over two billion YouTube views and hundreds of millions of streams. They started as a Parisian sensation and have grown into a global act, known for mixing modern electronic music with jazz and 1920s swing. They've played Coachella, Glastonbury, PalΓ©o and Rock en Seine, and they've got a platinum-certified single in the US. This particular tour was put together without the usual pressure of promoting a new album, so the set isn't tied to one record. Instead, they're revisiting two decades of their most well-known tracks and introducing new, unreleased material, all in the spirit of the great American revues of the 1920s.
On stage, that translates to an eight-member ensemble. There are two singer-dancers, a brass section, jazz guitar, analogue synths and choreography. It's a big, live production rather than a small club gig. Opening the night is the London producer Creature, who plays a fusion of club-ready jazz and broken beat. The whole thing sits within the EFG London Jazz Festival, so it's one of many dates running across the city that autumn.
