Candlelight concert by a string quartet of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and 'La Follia' in the historic Banking Hall.
Candlelight brings Vivaldi's Four Seasons to Banking Hall on Sunday 13 December, with a string quartet playing the set under candlelight. The venue is at 14 Cornhill, EC3V 3ND, in the City of London.
The programme centres on The Four Seasons (RV 269, RV 315, RV 293, RV 297), the four concertos that follow the seasons through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Alongside them, the quartet plays Sonata n.12 in d-minor 'La Follia' (RV 63), a piece based on the old folk tune that Vivaldi, like many composers of his time, reworked into his own variation.
Banking Hall is a former banking space in the City, still defined by its columns, high ceilings and period detailing. The music is played there by candlelight, and the evening is billed as a tribute concert experience, not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the composer's estate or official representatives.
