A candlelit tribute concert with a string quartet playing Florence + the Machine's greatest hits at Southwark Cathedral.
Southwark Cathedral hosts a Candlelight tribute to Florence + the Machine on Friday 27 November, with a string quartet taking on the songs. It's part of the Candlelight series that puts live music in London's older buildings under candlelight, and this one fills the cathedral with Florence's songs performed by strings.
The set is a run through the songs that most people know. The tentative programme includes 'Dog Days Are Over', 'Delilah', 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)', 'Ship To Wreck', 'Cosmic Love', 'Hunger', 'What the Water Gave Me', 'Free', 'Never Let Me Go', 'What Kind Of Man' and 'Shake It Out'. It's a broad sweep, pulling from the early records and the later ones, and it's all handled by strings rather than a full band.
One thing to keep in mind: this isn't an official Florence + the Machine show. The organisers say it's not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the artist, their estate or official representatives. It's a tribute, not the real thing. They also recommend it for ages 8 and over, so it's more of an all-ages evening than a late-night gig.

Tickets are £18.50, and the show starts at 7:00pm, with doors opening 45 minutes before. Just a heads-up: there's no entry once the show has started, so you'll want to be in your seat before the first note.
