A candlelit tribute concert by the City String Ensemble of Hans Zimmer's film scores, including 'Time' from Inception and 'Cornfield Chase' from Interstellar.
Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer comes to Central Hall Westminster on Saturday 24 October, with the City String Ensemble performing a tribute to Zimmer's film scores under the glow of candlelight. It's a tribute concert, so there's no affiliation with Zimmer himself or his official representatives.
The City String Ensemble, a string quartet, handles the music. The programme runs about an hour and pulls from Zimmer's long filmography, with 'Time' from Inception, 'Cornfield Chase' from Interstellar, and 'This Land' from The Lion King among the pieces. There are also suites from Gladiator, Dune and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The venue is as much a part of the night as the music. Central Hall Westminster is a Grade II* listed building on Storey's Gate, built in 1912 as a centenary monument to Methodism. It famously hosted the inaugural United Nations General Assembly in 1946, and its Great Hall holds Europe's largest self-supporting domed ceiling — a backdrop Christopher Nolan chose for some of his darkest Hollywood blockbusters.
