Historian Andrew Roberts talks about his new book 'Napoleon & His Marshals' at Waterstones King's Road Chelsea.
Andrew Roberts is at Waterstones, Chelsea on Thursday 22 October, starting at 7:00pm. He's there to talk about his new book, Napoleon & His Marshals: Victory, Rivalry & Betrayal, so the whole evening is built around it.
Roberts is a historian and a Napoleonic expert, and this one focuses on the French Emperor's Marshalate — the group of his most accomplished generals. He looks at them as people rather than just figures on a map, bringing out their personalities, their ambitions, and the fierce rivalries that ran between them. If you've ever wondered about the men who actually led Napoleon's armies on the ground, that's exactly what he'll be getting into.
The night is set up as a discussion, so it's more of a conversation than a lecture. He'll be talking through the book and the history it covers, and you'll get to hear him work through the material in person. It's a good chance to hear a specialist talk through a subject he knows inside out, and if you're already a fan of the Napoleonic era, it's right up your street.
