Afrobeats and Amapiano party billed as London's biggest of its kind, with free entry before 12am at The Cornershop Bar in Shoreditch.
Afrobeats Meets Amapiano takes over The Cornershop Bar on Friday 18 December, bringing two of the biggest sounds from across the continent together on one dancefloor. It's billed as London's biggest Afrobeats and Amapiano party, and it does exactly what the name says: it puts the West African rhythms of Lagos alongside the South African log-drum grooves of Johannesburg, both running through the same night in the heart of Shoreditch.
The music is the whole point here. Afrobeats, with its high-energy, dance-focused energy, and Amapiano, the slower, deeper house sound that's taken over from South Africa, are two of the most influential sounds in the city right now. The promoters are promising heavy DJs and surprise special guests, and they've gone for a no-fillers, no-breaks approach, so the dancefloor stays packed from start to finish. If you're going with a group and want a home base for the night, VIP tables are available to book.
The Cornershop Bar sits on the corner of Old Street and Shoreditch High Street, and it's a spot that wears a few different hats throughout the week. It's described as a place where relaxed afternoons, big match days and high-energy nights all come together, so it's well-versed in this kind of thing. On the night, it'll be the latter, with the music running from 10:00pm right through to 4:00am.

Entry is free before midnight, and there are free tickets available to grab in advance if you want to be sure of your spot. After that, it's £16.50. So if you're planning to get in early, you can do the whole night without spending a penny on the door.
