Annual candlelit carol service with celebrity readings and musical performances raising funds for Action Against Hunger's work in Syria.
Action Syria Carols returns to St Bartholomew the Great on Tuesday 8 December, from 6.15pm to 9.30pm. It's the charity's twelfth annual candlelit carol service, held in the City of London at St Bartholomew the Great, the oldest surviving church in the city. The evening pairs candlelit carols with celebrity readings and musical performances, and every ticket sold helps provide access to education, healthcare and emergency support for Syria's most vulnerable communities.
If you're not familiar with the venue, St Bartholomew the Great is tucked away in the heart of the City, on Cloth Fair in EC1. It's a proper old church, and the candlelit setting is part of the draw here. The night is built around the carols, but it's not just singing: celebrity readings and musical performances are woven in between the songs, so it's a full evening rather than a quick service. It's a candlelit affair from start to finish, which fits the December date.
Beyond the music, there's a clear purpose to the night. Action Syria Carols is a fundraising event, and the money raised goes toward education, healthcare and emergency support for Syria's most vulnerable communities. Every ticket sold contributes to that work, so it's a night that does more than just fill a couple of hours in your diary.
