Screening of Brian Henson's 1992 Muppet film 'The Muppet Christmas Carol', with Michael Caine as Scrooge, at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is coming to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Thursday 24 December, a morning screening of the 1992 film that puts the Muppets inside Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It's Brian Henson's take on the story, with Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge and Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit.
If you've seen it, you know the drill: Scrooge is a cold-hearted moneylender who can't stand the Christmas spirit of his colleague, Bob Cratchit, until the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future show him a different way of doing things. The Muppets bring their usual touch to the whole thing, and it's as much about the songs as the story. It was the first Muppet film made after Jim Henson died in 1990, and critics have called it one of the greatest Christmas films and literary adaptations of all time.
The screening is part of the Liverpool Philharmonic's range of festive shows, so it's one of several things they've got on around the city this December. It's a morning showing, which makes it a decent one to bring the whole family along to on Christmas Eve.
