The 5* Municipal Hotel Midweek Spa & Thermal Journey with Afternoon Tea and Prosecco for Two

The Municipal Hotel & Spa - MGallery on Dale Street is running a midweek spa and thermal journey with afternoon tea and prosecco for two, and it's one of those things that works best as a proper day out rather than a quick stop. The hotel itself is a bit of a local landmark — it opened in 2023 after a £40m renovation of what used to be the home of Liverpool City Council. It's a building from the 1860s, and they've kept the clock tower, the bells, the vaulted arches, the coffered ceilings, the wood panelling and the marble fireplaces. It's billed as Liverpool's only five-star hotel and spa.

The spa part is the Thermae Spa, a state-of-the-art sanctuary with a 16-metre indoor swimming pool that looks out over the city. There are three hydrotherapy functions, a sauna, a steam room, a sanarium and a Jacuzzi, and the therapists work with Elemis and Grown Alchemist products. Around the hotel, the Seaforth Restaurant does British and global cuisine, the Palm Court Bar sits in the central atrium, and the Botanic Tea Room serves afternoon tea with a Liverpool twist. You get a tote bag and flip-flops to take home, too.

It's a midweek deal, so it runs Monday to Friday, with two slots to choose from: 1pm to 3pm or 3.30pm to 5.30pm — just not on bank holidays. The afternoon tea is served between 12pm and 4pm, around whenever your spa time falls. It's £189 for two people.
